Hummingbird

Hummingbird please hold on to my soul away

Let me under the flower’s lap

Hummingbird take me to fly in your heart

Let me inhale back a drop of life

Of coloured feathers, beauty dresses tonight

Oh hummingbird place take me with you

I want to know the edge of life

Teach me how to dance with the wind

Delicate wisdom

Marvellous creature

Fragile sough

Gorgeous behemoth

Hummingbird, carry me away

Take me back to my childhood

Help me reunite with those who are long gone

Hummingbird flap your passions and dreams

Fly back again

Hummingbird come back tomorrow

Fly again, hummingbird

I will long for today to come.

Really sweet poem. I love hummingbirds and I’ve seen them fight! They’re tough little things. “Gorgeous behemoth” love that line, it makes me think of the birds grace and beauty as being gigantic which it is.
